Hello! Welcome back did you enjoy this post? Did you hate it? Unless you tell us we won't know, so go ahead and make a comment on this post and we promise to stop nagging!

Internet Marketing is a complex business and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. If you’re just getting started, you know just how much information is out there, and how much of it is landing in your Inbox! It’s tempting to sign up for all sorts of newsletters to learn all you can, and keeping track of all that information can be a challenge.

Then when you actually start your business, the amount of data you collect can be huge in a very short time. The activities you need to do are many and varied:

Write articles Publish the articles Check your site stats Check your rankings in the search engines Test your landing pages Monitor your landing page results Research your key words Test which key words are working for you Try your hand at pay per click Monitor your pay per click before you go broke

And that’s just the beginning. It can be totally overwhelming. Keeping it all under control while at the same time monitoring what’s going on can be a nightmare.

Do you have an easy way to find all those passwords you need to access various tools you’ve bought? What about serial numbers for software? Have you bought the same product twice because you forgot you had it already? Have you been paying regularly for a service you forgot you signed up for? Those are all easy ways to waste time and lose money.

What you need is a system.

Take a deep breath. Make a cup of coffee. Sit down away from your computer, in a comfortable chair, with a pen and notebook.

Begin by writing down all the activities you are doing for your business. (If you have more than one site, you’ll need to do this for each one.) You’re going to create a spread sheet or database file (whichever is more comfortable for you to use) to keep track, and you’ll need columns for each activity.

This becomes your checklist not only of what you have to do, but when you actually did it. As you get comfortable with the system, you can add information about the results. When money starts to come in, either from affiliate sales or PPC ads, you can add that too.

Set a schedule for when you will do each activity. I find that devoting a whole day each week to writing and publishing articles is a good strategy. I don’t get distracted by other tasks, and I don’t feel guilty about not doing other things because writing is that day’s designated activity.

Finally, don’t think you have to do every single thing that every single guru tells you to do. That way lies insanity. Try the things that make sense to you. If they work, keep doing them. If they don’t, stop. It’s as simple as that. Internet Marketing is like any other business in that you need to develop your own systems to make it work. It’s well worth while, both to your bottom line and your sanity.
